Most new real estate agents have to learn to track their numbers. For that matter, most experienced agents need to learn the habit as well.  Because when you track your numbers you know instantly whether you are on the road to success…or failure.

Did you know it is proven that people who weigh themselves on a consistent basis (I weigh myself each Monday morning) weigh less on average than people who do not?  It should be obvious why that is, but just in case;

  • Every time you eat you will think of the consequence.
  • You will set goals as to what that weight should be next week.
  • Success or failure will stare you in the face each time you weigh in; the ultimate accountability.

Building a Real Estate Business
Real estate agents need to know that the same principle applies to building your real estate business.  If you track your numbers it will be come apparent which of your habits produce results and which of your habits need to be thrown out.  Here are the numbers you should track a real estate agent;

  1. How many new contacts did I make today/this week?
  2. How many phone calls did I make today/this week?
  3. How many of those phone calls did I talk to today/this week?
  4. How many appointments did I book from those conversations today/this week?
  5. How many appointments did I do this week?
  6. How many of those appointments converted to what I wanted today/this week? (e.g., listing contracts, buyer contracts, house under contract, etc)

Listen, this is not new and this is no secret.  But YOU need to track these numbers.  Do it for 2 months.  Just two.  Then look at the patterns.  Want to know what you will find?  That the results of numbers 4, 5 and 6 are a direct result and reflect the activity in numbers 1, 2 and 3.  So if you want to raise your results of #6, work hard on numbers 1, 2 and 3.  Make sense?
